We have been learning to edit and redraft our work in English. The children worked in pairs and travelled around the class visiting 4 different Editing Stations; Grammar Grove, Punctuation Point, Spelling Square and Add More Avenue. Everyone made improvements to their writing. Well Done 7 Blue!
This week in Maths we have been learning to count on from a previous number. We have ‘experienced’ and ‘played’ with it. We know we can put a larger number in our heads and count on, do you know you don’t always have to start counting at 1?
See attached the latest from our School Council! They have been very busy and have lots to get organised.
Year 2 are currently enjoying weekly music sessions with Mr Olatungi.
So far they’ve concentrated on the timing of beats, challenging themselves with beats and rest and have now moved on to rhythm.
We’ve also practice these skills in our PE theme, dancing like water.
Each team showed outstanding communication and teamwork in creating water-like moves to perform in unison then in cannon.
This week in Science, we explored and investigated different types of soils. We looked at chalk soil, clay soil and sandy soil. We found out what soil is made up of and why it is important.
7 Blue have thoroughly enjoyed our theme ‘May the Force be with you’ and learned all about forces. They made a swing or a moving vehicle and recognised that you can make something start or stop moving when you push or pull it. They really enjoyed setting up their own investigation to find out the effects friction had on a toy car travelling on different surfaces. They found out that the smoother surfaces created less friction for the toy car and the rougher surfaces generated more friction. The children considered how they were going to make the test fair and decided to make sure they started the car at the same point on the ramp and only changed the surface that the car travelled on.Â

Hello all
Just a quick email letting you know that the bus timetable has had a slight update so I have attached the new timetable for your records. As always we really appreciate your participation in advertising and encouraging/advising others in the community about the many benefits the bus has to offer whether that be affordable shopping, advice or fuel support it all goes a long way in helping those in our community.
The new timetable starts from next week at week one on Tuesday 16th January and will keep rotating from there until any further updates are undertaken in which case I will update you with any further changes.

Happy New Year to all of our Parent Carers!
We have our first Drop-In Session taking place on Thursday 25th January 2024. This event is being hosted at Hebburn Family Hub but is open to ALL parent carers across South Tyneside.
The event is FREE and you do not need to pre-book a place. The session starts at 10am and will finish at 11:30am.
The theme for this event is Wellbeing and we will be joined by Carly at Luna Blu – Creative Arts Therapy who will introduce her business and let you know what events she has planned this year.
Wellbeing is important not just for the child or young person, but also for the parent carer. Come down, catch up and be heard.
