Year 6 were scientists this afternoon as they carried out an investigation into the effects of air resistance. We had already learned that air resistance is a type of friction and today we looked at it in action. The children planned a fair test involving parachutes of different sizes. By timing their descents, we were able to conclude that objects with a larger surface area generate more air resistance. This is great news for skydivers! Super teamwork everyone!

Hebburn Lakes started off the 2022/23 South Tyneside Upper KS2 Football Season in excellent form at a wet and windy Hebburn Comprehensive School on Monday evening.
Captained by Jayden and featuring some very promising debut performances all over the pitch, the boys won each of their two games, scoring an impressive 10 goals in the process!
Congratulations to everyone in the squad and special thanks to Mr Todd for his support with the team – let’s keep this up and try to repeat last season’s title run!
Well done also to all of the players representing their schools on the night.
This week in our Maths lessons we have been looking at the part – whole model and how we can use it to complete our addition work. We have looked at all the commutative ways we can make the number and how we can show our answers using the model. We are absolutely amazing, even starting to use 3 and 4 parts to our model.
This week in LMTW we have been learning how circuits work. The children learned about how the national beacons are lit across the country to mark important events for the Monarchy and the country. The children have recreated the lighting of the beacons by making a large circuit system that was lit using batteries, switches and bulbs.
Mornings really are the best part of the day, as this morning’s lovely sunrise over Hebburn and South Tyneside proves. What a lovely way to start the week.
South Shields FC Foundation, are expanding their sessions to now be available to a wide range of ages, starting from 2 years old.Â
