Lego Algorithms

24th March 2026aclark

IMG_3322   The children in 1 Blue have been doing some computing in LMTW. We were working in pairs to compose and decompose structures that we had made with Lego. Each child was given 5 pieces of Lego which they had create a model out of. Then their partner had to follow their algorithm’s to recreate their model and discuss the process they used. We used sequencing vocabulary like first, next and last to help our partner sequence the lego.

Coding Champions

4th March 2026L Chisholm

In our Learning Means The World theme Land Ahoy we have been looking at how coding helps the ships navigate using algorithms and programs.  We looked at block based programming and understood the concept of loops to make things move.  We worked together to programe our angry birds movements so that it could capture the naughty pig.  We were really good and understood how each block meant a different movement.

Be a SMARTY with E-Safety

20th February 2026L Chisholm

As part of Safer Internet week we completed some Safer Internet Day Assemblies and Boo Gets Cyber Smart workshops.  We had a special visitor join us last week to talk about the importance of being safe online. Rebecca from Big Foot Art Education came in and told us all about how to be a SMARTY.  We looked at the rules needed to keep us safe online and how we can recognised cyber bullying and unsafe materials.  We also  talked about how to spot a fake account and how much time is recommended per day for us to be online without causing tiredness, blurred vision and loss of focus.
