This week in music, we looked at tempo. We used percussion instruments to try and follow the changing tempo in different pieces of music. We also used our bodies to move appropriately to the tempo.
We have been busy bees in Reception today. Exploring, making new friends and physical fun Friday outside in the sun!
Year 4 have shown themselves be experts with computer networks. They have created their own version of an internal computer network. Well done!
The children have settled into Year 1 wonderfully! We have already started our Learning Means The World Theme ‘ Happily Ever After’ in which we are researching fairy tales and their settings and characters. In our Maths we have been counting forwards and backwards and saying 1 more and 1 less than a given number. We are already learning so much and can’t wait to see what else we can do.
Dr Bike session at Hebburn Lakes.
Please bring your bike to school on the 17th October. Make sure it is in a bike shed ready for inspection. Any minor faults will be fixed.
In our theme of ‘Happily Ever After’ we have been looking at fairy tales, one of which being ‘The Ugly Duckling’. This led us to discuss other birds in our area and what they need to live a happy life. We made bird feeders using seeds and lard and placed them in our school garden for the birds to enjoy.
In English we are exploring Fairytales. This week our tale is Little Red Riding Hood.
We made our own puppets and ‘acted out’ the story … the wolf was very frightening!
Challenge question – ‘What IS a Fairytale?, how is it different to other stories?’
Following on from our work in RE,1 Blue made the most beautiful stained glass window tributes to the Queen.
Well done to Reception Red and 2 Blue, they have achieved 100% attendance last week!
Excellent attendance at school is important to allow a child to fulfil their potential.
