This half-term, our gardening club have already achieved their Level 1 award, from the Royal Horticultural Society!
Working in the school garden, we are aiming to get some edible produce (fruits and vegetables) planted, ready to harvest and taste test ourselves.
Adding to our level 1 award, we have also officially been given our School Gardening member plaque and are continuing to work our green fingers, to reach levels 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Well done gardeners, keep up the fantastic work!
We have had a lovely week in nursery celebrating the upcoming coronation of King Charles III.
On Wednesday, in Forest School, we collected natural materials, such as flowers, leaves and twigs. We used these to decorate our very own crowns – they looked amazing!
On Thursday, we decorated a commemorative tile to keep as a reminder of the King’s coronation. We used gold, red and blue pens to design a crown on the tile and write our name. What lovely keepsakes!
Friday saw us celebrating the coronation with a whole school outdoor party. The sun shone, the band played and we all had a lovely afternoon dancing and playing with our friends!
To celebrate the King’s Coronation we made celebration tiles as a keepsake to mark the occasion. Aren’t our designs beautiful?
Today we welcomed Karen from St Oswald’s Hospice for a special ‘Shaun the Sheep on the Tyne’ assembly.
Karen talked to us about the fantastic work the hospice do and the wonderful care they provide for children and adults with complex disabilities.
Some of you may remember the amazing Snowdog and Elmer art trails… This year’s trail will bring a flock of beautifully decorated Shaun the Sheep sculptures to the North East. The learning programme has been sponsored by Northumbrian Water.
The school council and eco-warriors have worked hard over the last few weeks, collecting ideas from their classmates and coming up with our very own Shaun design. Our next job is to begin the painting process and to bring their design to life!
The trail begins on 19th July 2023 and will run throughout the summer holidays, ending on 27th September.
