Macmillan Coffee Morning
Friday 30th September from 9.00am to 10.00am for coffee and cake. We look forward to seeing you then.
Throughout our theme ‘Happily Ever After’ we have been looking at fairytales. This week we have been reading and completing work around the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We decided that cookies are a great treat and that we would like to make them (to make sure they were good enough for Granny obviously). We looked at a recipe and thought about what ingredients we would need. We then used the correct equipment to weigh out the ingredients and mix the batter. Our Teacher put them in the oven and took them out when it was time then we took them home to eat, before The Big Bad Wolf could smell them!
This afternoon Reception went for an Autumn walk in our garden. We looked for signs of Autumn, talked about the different leaves, berries and fruits we saw. We also talked about which animals hibernate as we could not find any frogs. After that we went for a run around on the grass.
7 Blue have been practicing our Times Tables by sewing patterns.
Congratulations to Harry in 6 Blue who last Saturday took part in a North East Harrier League cross-country competition. Harry finished a very creditable 37th out of 68 athletes in the Under-11s race. We have so many children across Hebburn Lakes who take part in sporting events out-of-school, so keep up the good work everyone and well done Harry!
As part of our current Learning Means the World theme, Inter Nation Media Station, we were introduced to a character named Top Dollar and his Nan. As he is taking Nan on a special day out, we were asked to design and make a t-shirt for Nan to wear on their day of fun. We worked hard to create our designs then had fun bringing our designs to life. We are all very proud of our designs.
In our new Learning Means the World theme, Inter-Nation Media Station, we have been introduced to some new characters. We used clues about famous rap star Top Dollar and his Nan to design a t-shirt for Nan’s big day out with her grandson.
We thought about her likes and dislikes, planned and designed her outfit before producing our final pieces.
Take a look at our creations!
7 Blue have have produced some wonderful self-portraits using pencils then paint.
