Year 6 produced a very thoughtful assembly today to celebrate our learning within our ‘I Have a Dream’ theme.
We shared our learning about slavery, apartheid and segregation; the children also celebrated the achievements and legacy of Martin Luther King through the eyes of a child who witnessed his famous 1963 speech.
The children spoke confidently and it was clear that they have thought clearly about the important themes within this unit of work.
Thanks to all of our parents, carers and other family members who came along too – we hope you enjoyed it!
William, who is in Year 1, has made his debut for Blueline Taxi and what an amazing job he has done. We are all very proud of you William!
In 1 Blue we looked at Inukshuk stone figures. Which means ‘human being’. They were used by the Inuit in the North as directional markers. It is in the shape of a person and signifies safety, hope and friendship. We used stones, pebbles and then lego to build our own Inukshuk.
For our Get Ahead challenge this week we:
Drawing and colouring with our feet! …. it was very challenging but we persevered.
We’ve had lots more fun this week, exploring our ‘Under the Sea’ theme. We turned simple paper plates into turtles, crabs, sharks and jellyfish – and they look amazing!
Well done to the children – their wonderful creations are really bringing our classroom to life!
This week in our ‘LMTW’ lessons we have been learning about African culture. We looked at the foods from across Africa and even had a go and making and eating some ourselves. We made a cous cous dish and mango smoothies.
Today we launched our Times Tables Rockstars Battle of the Bands. Each week we will find out the class that wins their year group battle and they will be awarded the year group trophy.
