We have had a very successful start to our Forest School sessions. We began the session with our forest school song and rules before exploring the outside area to find sticks. Once we had enough sticks, we used them to make our own stick men, some children were creative and made houses for the stick people to live in. We also took part in lots of other outdoor activities with the favourites being mud painting and water play. We joined together to listen to outdoor sounds, making up our own songs about what we heard. We ended the session with The Stick Man story and our closing song.
Wow, what a day in Nursery! We started off by learning a little about Diwali and some of the things that Hindu’s do to celebrate. We made Rangoli patterns out of loose parts and paint and even participated in special Bollywood dancing. I wonder if any of our talented dances can show their grown ups a move or two!
We have had a spook-tacular time at our Halloween party today! The children’s fancy dress costumes were amazing! They have enjoyed exploring our Halloween jelly potion (with spiders, eyeballs and more!) and cutting our witch’s spaghetti hair! The children had great fun showing off their dance moves, played lots of party games and even created some Halloween crafts!

The Nursery children all agreed that fruit and vegetables are healthy and we set about exploring. First we used all our senses to explore a range of fruits and vegetables, talking about them using descriptive vocabulary such as furry, soft, wet, sticky, smooth and sweet. We printed with different types of fruit and vegetables, talking about the colours and shapes. We investigated which fruit and vegetables float and which ones sink and we have used our knowledge of shape and number to make fruit faces. Why not continue exploring at home and see if you notice any interesting fruit and vegetables while you are out and about.
