Our Reception Classes are really enjoying our ‘Little Movers‘ sessions this term. Working with Pip our specialist leader, the children have been learning a range of physical development skills to boost their movement, balance and coordination across the curriculum. The children have loved the games and songs too – they have been really fun to be involved with and the smiles on our children’s faces is lovely to see. Well done everyone!
This week in our theme of ‘Never Eat Shredded Wheat’ we have been looking at maps and how to read them. We have been giving each other directions to find places on a map and we know the difference between human and physical geographical features. We even created our own maps and matching key. We then thought about the sounds that each symbol on our key could make and we composed our own geographical music score!
Key Stage Two performed beautifully at St John’s church on Friday – well done everyone!
An extra special thank you to all of the children with speaking parts – it’s not always easy to stand up in front of a church full of people – but you did it and you should be proud.

Ian, from St John’s Church in Hebburn, came to visit us for a special assembly to discuss how we are all special in different ways; how to think about each others feelings and respect each other at all times. We had a lovely sing and a dance together.
Reception had their first ‘Little Movers’ PE session today. Lots of dancing and following routines, team work and balancing skills! We all had a fabulous time and feel super fit.
Reception were absolutely amazing this morning! We performed ‘A Showman At Sunset’ for our adults. We had lots of last minute stand ins and some major swap around but they all shone in their own way and sang their hearts out! Well done Reception!
This week in Year 3, we have been learning about Harriet Tubman. Year 3 learned that Harriet saved over 60 slaves from the terrible conditions of the slave farms and transported them across the Northern boarder of Pennsylvania where slavery was illegal. She did this using songs to give the slaves instructions so that they weren’t caught by the slave catchers. We were inspired by this, so we created our own slave songs!
This week we have been learning about how it would feel to live in an igloo. We thought about the life of an Inuit and what they ate, where they lived and what they wore. We even tried some Inuit throat singing! We decided that we are very lucky to live in this country and eat the food we eat, we really don’t fancy walrus nuggets!
This is week two of our visit to 🇨🇳 China! We enjoyed exploring noodles with chopsticks, making money wallets, creating Chinese flags, making dragon heads and then having a dragon dance around our school, Chinese writing and of course the food tasting! What a busy week!
Within our Learning Means the World theme, we were tasked with producing and performing an accompaniment to a piece of music. We all enjoyed playing the percussion instruments and performing to our class.
