This week in Year 1 we have been working hard to half both objects and quantities. We figured out that if we halved something it meant that we shared it between one other equally. We halved shapes, numbers of counters and sandwiches! We even ate both halves, I wonder what fraction that would make?
In 1 Blue we have been learning how shadows are formed. We worked in pairs to make shadows with our hands. We moved the light source around to experiment what happens when the light is shining from different places and distances.
We helped the Queen celebrate her Platinum Jubilee, it was so much fun!
Thank you to everyone who attended our Jubilee Coffee morning today, it was an amazing success and lovely to see parents back in school again. It was also great to see the art produced by the children as well as a special performance from Year 6.

Smile through Sport are pleased to be running sport and physical activity sessions for children and young people with SEND during the May Half Term across Northumberland, Durham and Tyne & Wear. All family members are welcome to attend the sessions too!
As part of our Learning Means the World theme of light and dark we have been looking at how to create different shade and tones to give our pictures a more realistic look. Also we looked at blending and shading and how we could use these skills to create different effects.
