Dear Community,
Please see the following information from Toby Henderson Trust. I do hope that you find it useful.
We would like to share details of our next Open day:
The Toby Henderson Trust (TTHT) at the Autism Hub will be hosting a Summer drop-in Garden party, giving everyone the opportunity to come along to meet the team, learn more about what we do, whilst enjoying some refreshments in our ‘Tranquillity Garden’. We also hope it will be an opportunity to help build on the communities understanding of Autism and inclusivity for all autistic individuals and their families. Whether you have a local business, work/live in the area, are a South Tyneside professional or parent/carer we would love for you to come along.
Date: Tuesday 18th June 2024 10am – 2pm.
Introduction to Makaton workshop for families:
We are offering a free ‘Introduction to Makaton’ Family Workshop on Monday 24th June, 10.00am-12.30pm, delivered by Makaton Tutor Anna Melling from Talk to the Hand Makaton Training (limited places available).

TTHT ‘Out & About’ in the community:
We understand through feedback received from families that it can be pretty tough, when your ‘cup is already full’ to come along to somewhere new and access support for the first time with people you have never met before. That’s why the team are so passionate about finding ways to break down those barriers and get ‘out and about’ in the community so families can meet us, have a chat and feel comfortable and reassured to come along to access our services at the autism hub.
We decided this summer we would add to the many ways we do this by planning a local ‘Walk & Talk’ event. This is a chance for anyone to meet us and join the TTHT at the Autism Hub Team on a relaxed walk and talk along the South Shields Coastline.
Wednesday 17th July 10am – 11am.
Full details can be found on the poster attached. No booking is required for this event.
2 Red showed just how creative they were when replicating animal patterns before creating and designing a animal print of their own.
They used a range of mixed media to try out different patterns and textures and also used some more unusual art tools. They created snake skin with paint, sponges and netting, elephant skin with paint and shaving foam, leopard spots with bubble wrap and paint and a whole range of other textures with chalk pastels, oil pastels, pens and pencils.
The end product of their own design carved into a foam board then printed onto paper was very impressive.

Mrs Thomas asked the children for some ideas for activities that could be included in Breakfast Club. They went away to chat to their friends and collated some lists. We then came back together, discussed and finalised a wish list for Mrs Moody. The new items have arrived and will be rolled out into Breakfast Club after half term!
2 Blue have had a fantastic time exploreing the Sunderland Winter Garder rainforest through art.
They sketched in the forest, looking carefully at the different types of leaves, and then created some master pieces in the museum classroom using different types and shades of pastels.
We even had time to sqeeze in scavenger hunt around the rest of the museum!
The children were a credit to the school with their excellent manners and behaviour.
