We took part in the whole school careers day. Lots of businesses and people with interesting careers came and joined us for the day. We have been learning about civil engineers and their role in building bridges, I’m sure you’ll agree our bridges were much better than any you see on your travels! We looked at the world of advertising through the use of media videos and green screen. The children enjoyed watching Mrs Chisholm discover her new career, she is obviously wasted as a Teacher and needs to be on the big screen!! We also looked at Halfords and their cars and what they do everyday. We found today very interesting and we now have lots of fun ideas and goals for our future – watch this space!

Some of year 2 were lucky enough to be invited to take part in an orienteering session at Marine Park. They received a map and had to look for different numbered stations around the park. Each of these stations had a letter, number and a picture. The children had to collect the data from each station to fill in their quiz sheet at the end. The children were all amazing and we have had a brilliant afternoon.
Year 2 have been making our own birds as part of our Going Wild’ theme. We have loved learning about the elephant bird so we decided to try and make one. We used our Design and Technology skills to sew around our shape. We then added stuffing, closed our bird with more stitches then added on eyes and wings. I think you’ll agree we are SEW great!

We have been so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Amy who was from a company called Active Futures. Active Futures run a range of sporting activities around the North East and have been running some of these in our local area. This week the children engaged in an activity called Futsal which is like a smaller scale game of football. Amy showed the children some tricks to do with the football and then played lots of games. The children really enjoyed their sessions and even received a leaflet to take home with all of the information about the activities that Active Futures run. Please feel free to have a look and sign up to the activities!
