Reception Butterflies

7th July 2022K Richardson

As part of our previous theme ‘What on earth?’ and then linking into our current theme ‘Over the Rainbow’  Reception were very lucky to look after some caterpillars.  We investigated the life cycle and then watched out caterpillars grow, change to the chrysalis stage and then finally our beautiful butterflies emerged! We observed them for a day or two and fed them fruit, when they were ready, we let them go free!  Some of them flew off straight away, but one of them stayed as it seemed to like sitting with one of our girls!

SEND – What does good SEND look like?

17th June 2022J Donkin

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Local Authority SEND Team would like your help to shape the future of SEND provision in South Tyneside.  They are inviting you to attend a number of interactive sessions so that you can share your experiences and expertise. Please see the information below and sign up via the link if you would like to participate in shaping the future for our SEND children, young people and adults.

Please see below.

Attend one of these interactive sessions to share your knowledge and expertise. The sessions will review case studies to help us understand how the journey through SEND systems feels for families and how we can make these better.

We will use your feedback and expert knowledge to shape our improvement and delivery plans for SEND services in South Tyneside.

What the session will look like?

  • Table top discussions
  • Review anonymous examples of a family’s journey
  • Map what will make their journey a positive experience
  • Share with wider audience
  • Determine next steps

There are 4 opportunities to get involved at different locations across the borough.

Reception Great British Bake Off!

17th June 2022K Richardson

This week during our theme ‘What on earth?’ we have been looking at small things. Then Reception used the story ‘Little Red Hen’ to support some of our learning. We decided to make some bread, the smell of baking bread was amazing and it tasted delicious! We certainly have some contenders for Great British Bake Off!

Holi Celebration

17th June 2022N Sikka

This week the children had a fantastic opportunity to take part in R.E workshops based around the Indian festival of colour, ‘Holi’.  Kalpesh from K’z Dance Entertainment Ltd taught all the children some traditional Indian dances and discussed with them the  meaning of the Holi festival.  At the end of the day the whole school came together and performed the dances taught earlier in the day, the children and staff had some wonderful moves!  At the end of the performance everyone took part in throwing colourful dyes at one another to celebrate Holi, just like it is carried out in India.

Our new additions in Reception!

26th May 2022K Richardson

Our new theme in Learning Means The World is ‘ What on earth?’  We have been looking at living things, old and new things and life cycles.  To ‘experience’ our learning we were so lucky to introduce in Reception some eggs in an incubator.  We watched the chicks hatch and grow.  Red and Blue class were a fabulous team and took great care of them!
