Jungle landscape artists in the making

9th February 2024ashleigh clark

Today in English, 3 Blue have been creating their own jungle landscapes using paint. Our class book (which we don’t yet know the name of as Miss Clark won’t tell us) describes an old man dreaming about “a jungle full of wild forest animals” so we decided to have a go and create our own jungle landscapes. We looked at two jungle landscape artists: Henri Rousseau and Paul Gaugin for inspiration. We were so proud of out work and had so much fun!

Reception’s Ticket To Ride!

28th January 2024K Richardson

Our current Learning Means The World theme is ‘Ticket To Ride!’  We have been using this throughout our learning.  In maths we have looked at numbers, 1 more and 1 less, number bonds, shape and positional language.  We have gone on magical train rides telling our friends where we would go and why.  We used our sounds and made transport words such as van, bus, truck, sub etc And of course some snowy fun!

Nursery Christmas Stay and Play

21st December 2023Hayley Tampin

The children loved welcoming their grown ups into nursery today for some festive fun! We decorated wreath photo frames and some collage stockings. The children have prepared their own reindeer dust, ready to sprinkle on Christmas Eve to make sure Santa and his reindeer find them!

We even enjoyed a festive sing-along of some of our favourite Christmas songs! What a great time we all had!

Designing and making ‘Inukshuks’ from clay.

7 Red tried to make cuboids using clay to help make their Inukshuks.

Did you know that Inukshuks help the Inuits find their way home?

Do you know what else they are used for?

1 Red love the Northern Lights!

8th December 2023L Chisholm

This week we have been learning about the Northern Lights and the amazing patterns they create across the sky.  We have created some beautiful Northern Light pictures using pastels and the ‘blending’ technique.  We then decided that we would use the computers to create the same picture and compared the two.  We enjoyed using the computers but the majority thought that the pastels looked better.  What do you think?

Inukshuk Art in Year 1

1st December 2023L Chisholm

We have been looking at the Inuits and their way of life in our Learning Means The World Theme of ‘Come Fly With Me: Arctic Circle.  We have been looking at how they expressed various art forms and we have discovered that they used rocks and stones to make markers in the area.  These markers then became symbols and ways of celebration.  We created our own Inukshuk art.  We have also looked at their art of dance and music and we have learnt some amazing origional Inuit dances and have been learning how to play the drums, which is a big part of any Inuit celebration.

1 Blue are brrrriliant!

21st November 2023L Chisholm

In our ‘Learning Means The World’ theme ‘Come Fly With Me: Arctic’ we have been researching animals that live there and how they survive.  We have looked at the Inuit people and have created a collage of their clothing using the correct materials that have the qualities that that piece of clothing needs eg waterproof.  We also created a ‘Slider’ which was a moving picture and we made this by completing a design and technology task. I’m sure you’ll agree that our work is brrrrilliant!
