Year 2 using their mind (map!)

18th October 2024L Chisholm

In English this week we have been looking at finding information about the text we are reading.  We have found a skill that helps us dig deeper into what we predict the book could be about.  The children were introduced to the front cover of Tad by Benji Davies and before we even opened the book we decided to dig into our minds to think of ideas the book could be about and what vocabulary we may come across.  We worked in teams and created a ‘Mind Map’ of our ideas and connections. We were then able to read the story undertand the vocabulary and sequence with greter depth.

Year 2 using great skills in English!

13th October 2024L Chisholm

This week we have been looking at differnt skills we can use to improve our English work.  We looked at a set of instructions and at first were a little baffled by all the information we could see.  However, when we looked at each part of the instructions we realised that we could sort them into key areas E.G. Title, equipment, method etc.  This helped us greatly when we had to write instructions on how to build our own ‘ME’ robot.

Year 2 are jingling!

13th October 2024L Chisholm

In our learning means the world theme ‘Internation Media Station’ we have been looking at the ways in which tv and radio companies capture our attention.  We looked at the art work used and the jingles that keep us singing.  We then worked as a group to come up with our own jingle to introduce a new breakfast cereal.  The children were amazing both at designing their cereal box and coming up with a catchy jingle.  I am still singing along with ‘panda Pops’!

Our Outdoor Classroom is Open!

8th October 2024C Machin

Last Thursday was a very exciting day in 3 Blue, as we were on the last chapter of our very exciting book ‘Stitch Head’. By Guy Bass. To help celebrate what has been such a great book  we went to read it in the new outdoor classroom.  As you can see from the pictures we all felt very honored to be one of the first classes in there.

2 Blue and the great start.

15th September 2024L Chisholm

The children in 2 Blue have had a great start to the year.  We have made messages with counters and flags and looked at various ways of communicating.  We have worked on working out the tens and ones in any given number and what it looks like. We have settled in to our new routines and even though there is a little bit more to do, we know we are going to smash Year 2!
