Work to be celebrated!

26th January 2026N Sikka

1 Red have really embraced our current LMTW theme ‘Never Eat Shredded Wheat’. They have shown so much enthusiasm both in and out of school producing some high quality pieces of work.  They have taken their homework to the next level by making models, writing setting descriptions, describing the pirates and researching information about various foods animals from around the world.  I am sure you’ll agree that their effort is superb!

Breads of the world!

26th January 2026N Sikka

Today in 1 Red we looked at foods from around the world as part of our LMTW theme ‘Never Eat Shredded Wheat’. The children talked about different cuisines such as, Italian, Indian and Chinese that they had experienced and whether they liked and disliked them.  We then focused on different bread from around the world.  The children had the opportunity to try various types of bread, guessing where they originated from.  They used associated vocabulary to describe the taste and textures.  It was definitely a success and some children now have some other foods they are excited to keep trying.

One world, seven continents, infinite adventures.

9th January 2026aclark

Today in our Learning Means The World session, we have been looking at the 7 continents. We learned a new song to remember the continents and we even ordered them from greatest to smallest. Did you know that Asia is the greatest continent? We then had great fun matching the continents to their place on the map.

Ahoy me hearties!

7th January 2026N Sikka

Today in English we introduced our new text which is ‘Goodnight Pirate’. The text also links heavily with our new Learning Means the World theme ‘Never Eat Shredded Wheat’. The children will learn all about pirates as well as navigating the world using a compass and an atlas. To launch both our text and theme we played a game of ‘guess what is in the box?’ I described an object and the children had to identify it and try and say what it is used for or its purpose. We had a go at sounding out and writing the names of the objects too. It was a great lesson and a fabulous hook for the next few weeks. The children all seemed really excited, enthusiastic and ready to learn about it.
