This week we’ve been learning how to round numbers to the nearest 10. After completing some tricky challenges in our books, we practiced our skills using some rounding games.
2 Red have been working hard on their mathematical skills this week. As a team they developed their communication skills to create a human number line and were able to reason from this.
In Learning Means the World we have been looking at weight and measurement in our DT/Maths aspect of the curriculum, so we decided to make cookies like Little Red Riding hood did to take to her grandma. We looked at all the ingredients needed, followed a recipe and weighed and measured the correct amounts to make the cookies before mixing, kneading and cooking. We finally ate them and the general consensus was that they were delicious.

Today in 1 Blue, we have been looking at fairytales as a part of our Learning Means The World Theme. We read the story of Little Red Riding Hood and we decided to get our aprons ready in order to bake Grandma’s cookies like in the story. We had a go at weighing out the ingredients, mixing them together and then we cut out our own cookies. We can’t wait to taste them!

Some of year 2 were lucky enough to be invited to take part in an orienteering session at Marine Park. They received a map and had to look for different numbered stations around the park. Each of these stations had a letter, number and a picture. The children had to collect the data from each station to fill in their quiz sheet at the end. The children were all amazing and we have had a brilliant afternoon.
Another busy week in Reception. We are showing off our independent writing, maths skills, creativity and simply how amazing we are ❤️⭐️❤️⭐️❤️
