We have had such a great time creating our own jingle in music today. We used the song ‘ If you’re happy and you know it’ and changed the words to create a jingle for a breakfast cereal.
Year 5 received a very special package from N.A.S.A this week!
The special package contained lots of different artefacts linked to the moon landing and space such as:
- Images of the moon landing
- Moon rocks and scientific equipment to investigate with
- Blue prints of Apollo 11
- Video footage of the moon landing
- A 360 degree tour of inside Apollo 11
- Books about space and our solar system
- Newspaper articles
Year 5 spent time in groups exploring and analysing each artefact, writing down key questions they had about each source.
This provoked a lot of conversation around our space theme and encouraged us to think about different sources of information.
1 Red thoroughly enjoyed their visit to our local church and Reverand Ian was extremely informative. We had a great time and really want to visit again soon! We looked at all the features of a modern church and what they are used for; we sang and we learned about customs and traditions that are important for Christians.
Year 2 were very lucky to have a visit from Year 2 parent, Mark, from Media Partnership. We found out all about his job within a media production company. This experience really helped us gain a better understanding of how film and television is made. After asking our questions to find out what happens behind the camera and the equipment used for recording, we all got to try out the green screen. We particularly enjoyed trying out our acting skills to float around space, relax on a desert island, present the news, swim underwater, support Hebburn Town at their football club and even visit the Eiffel Tower!
Well done to the class winners of Times Tables Rock Stars ‘Battle Of The Bands’Â tournament for Autumn Term 1/Week 4:

Let’s see the runners-up classes try to reclaim the year group trophy next week in the new battle which launches each Monday. Good luck Rock Stars!
This Week, Year 3 have had a visit from Mr Robert who taught us how to make animations with Ipads. We used an animation technique that we have learned about which is stop motion. We used characters that we had created and used green screens to create backgrounds for our animations. We used the Ipads to take photographs and each time we moved the characters slightly so when we played the pictures back it looked like the characters were moving. Did you know that 12 pictures creates 1 second of film?
7 Red made some puppets to re-tell the story of Little Red Riding Hood in their own inimitable fashion!
Fantastic acting skills with character voices and actions…. Spielberg watch out!
As part of our learning about forces, 6 Blue have been investigating why different sizes of parachutes descend at different speeds. We connected our understanding to the work of Sir Isaac Newton, who discovered that the force of gravity exits between all objects (though we only notice it when one of the objects is really large!). We came to the conclusion that a type of friction called air resistance slows objects down, particularly those with larger surface areas such as parachutes. Well done everyone!
This week we began our maths and Sounds Write journey. In maths we have been matching and sorting. In Sounds Write we have our new sounds m, a, t, and s which we have been word building with. We have also been reading and spelling words containing those sounds. After our whole class learning lots of our children went out into the provision and began their independent learning, explaining their reasons and problem solving.
