1 Red took part in world book day. The school decided to celebrate the work of Roald Dahl and his many brilliantly funny books. We have had lots of fun ranging from dressing up, making BFG dream jars, hunting for golden tickets, book hunt and many more. We have had an amazing day.
The children in 1 Blue have really enjoyed taking part in the various World Book Day activities today. Have a look to see what we have been up to.
The children listened to the story ‘Superworm’ around the campfire, after that they went looking for their own worms and other bugs on a bug hunt. They also made some beautiful decorations to hang around the campfire based on our school motto ‘Work, learn, Achieve Together.’ A big thank you to Danielle from Williby Roc’s for this opportunity.
This week year 1 spent some time with Williby Roc’s in our school garden. They listened to the story of Superworm then they went on a bug hunt. We then all created the signs ‘ACHIEVE’ and ‘TOGETHER’ which will form part of our school motto.
Our School Council visited Toner Avenue Primary School this week to look at their OPAL environment and talk to their OPAL ambassadors!

As part of our ‘Unity In The Community’ theme we have been looking at the work of Cesar Manrique. We looked his influence in Lanzarote, his art and his wind sculptures. We decided to make our own wind sculpture and created our very own Whirlygig! We think you’ll agree they look fantastic!
We have started having the amazing Mr O join us on a Tuesday morning for music and singing. We looked at counting beats and rhythmn. It was great fun and we can’t wait for next week!
