Belonging!

20th May 2025N Sikka

In RE this term year one have been learning about how important it is to belong to something such as family, class or community and how it is to feel accepted amongst these groups. We then looked at how Christians often gather in community groups at church for things such as weddings, christenings and baptisms. One Red then decided to have their own baptism in class, discussing the whole process and the important people involved. The children learnt the importance of togetherness and celebration and how that is a vital part in belonging.

Environmental sounds.

12th May 2025N Sikka

In LMTW ‘Light up the World’ we have been focusing on different sounds we can hear in our natural environment. The children had to listen to the different sounds then act them out using different body parts for their friends to guess them. The children in turn guessed what each sound was then together made class actions for each sound.

What makes you a good friend?

12th May 2025N Sikka

In Jigsaw year one have thinking about friendships and being kind. We took turns to say what a good friend looked like. Each child picked a friend and said a positive thing about why they were a good friend in order to boost their confidence and make them feel worthwhile and appreciated. Every child willingly took part and it had a positive impact on all. We then sorted statements into kind and unkind ones and said why we didn’t like the unkind statements.
