eVisa

2nd December 2024h teacher

The UK Government is replacing physical immigration documents with eVisas, a digital proof of immigration status.

Parents and guardians of children who are not British or Irish citizens, and whose children have either a biometric residence permit (BRP) card expiring on 31 December 2024, or a passport with an indefinite leave to remain ink stamp or vignette sticker, should take action to access their eVisa now, and do so on behalf of their children too.

An eVisa cannot be lost or stolen and can be accessed online by visa holders at any time to prove their rights in the UK. It’s free and does not effect your immigration status.

Arty feet

18th November 2024L Chisholm

We have been looking at the artist Christy Brown.  We found out that he had Cerebral Palsy and that his only working limb was his left leg.  He created his fantastic drawings with his left foot.  We were so inspired that we decided to have a go ourselves and we soon found out that it was harder than we thought it was going to be.  Christy Brown is certainly a hero!

2 Red Scientists!

18th November 2024L Phillips

2 Red showed true perseverance and determination during Science this week.

They took a leaf out of Thomas Edison’s book and investigated how to build a complete circuit. After lots of trial and error, problem solving, and teamwork, they all managed to successfully complete the circuit and light up the bulb.

They talked like scientists throughout the lesson asking ‘what if…’ questions, making predictions and drawing conclusions.

Engineers of the future

18th November 2024L Chisholm

Over the last week we have been looking at all the different components of a circuit, bulbs, batteries, wires and switches.  Today we used our knowledge to create a working circuit.  We used the crocodile clips to attach our components and watched what happened when the circuit was broken.  We created a simple circuit and then drew a technically correct drawing using the correct symbols for each component.

A visit from Reverend Ian from St John’s Church

8th November 2024K Richardson

We had a visit from Reverend Ian at St. John’s church. He talk about Remembrance Sunday. He mentioned how we remember things (like playing a memory game) and how it is so important to remember people who went to war. He then explained how in the bible it mentions peaceful people dying for good people and that we should not take peace for granted.

Battery Brainiacs!

7th November 2024L Chisholm

In our theme of ‘Zero To Hero’ we have been looking at Thomas Eddison who created the lightbulb and how we use this invention daily.  We then looked at how we can make lightbulbs and other equipment work using electricity with mains power and battery power.  We looked at different batteries and thought about what toys we had at home that needed batteries to work.

Adding 3 numbers in 2 Blue

23rd October 2024L Chisholm

If you are ever stuck on how to add 3 digits together just ask one of us! We are amazing and found that we could use our 10’s frames to place each number.  We then realised that once we had made them the other number was easy to see. We are experts now and were able to answer some mastery questions.

Sweet Caroline and the Football Boots is a fun, interactive, music-led performance for all the family with local musicians Ashleigh Lowes and Paige Temperley.

The songs in this performance have been co-created and inspired by girls football teams from across South Tyneside. The story is about the journey of “Sweet” Caroline, a small girl from South Tyneside who is desperate to be a footballer and who teams up with her older neighbour to take on the boys! It is an engaging story of discovering your talent, overcoming stereotypes, finding your team and having confidence in yourself, with a fun, uplifting message for a young audience.

As part of the ticket price, there will be themed food served after the show – and as it is football-themed, there has to be Bovril, sausage rolls and pies!
