A great week in Reception. We are using Rainbow Fish for our English jobs. There has been so much creativity and writing linked to this fabulous story! Reception showing off their talents as always
Another busy week in Reception. We are showing off our independent writing, maths skills, creativity and simply how amazing we are
Take a look at the fabulous activities the children took part in on RE Day this week!
In Computing, we learned about algorithms and about repetition within an algorithm. Then, we went on Scratch and created an algorithm with a repetition for our sprite to follow.

Year One we have been using algorithms in LMTW to follow instructions for making porridge. This also linked well with our twisted tale ‘Goldilocks and the Three Fairies’ as part of book wee in English. Today we enjoyed making and eating porridge with various toppings. Most of the children enjoyed eating it but there were a few who weren’t quite sure about it.
What a fabulous couple of hours we all had yesterday! L:ots of our children’s adults came to our stay and play. We are so proud of how Reception children have progressed socially and academically and letting them show everyone these fabulous skills was a pleasure.
Take a look at what activities each year group carried out on or RE Day this week!
In 2 blue this week we have been using computers and texts to research our favourite hero from our theme ‘Zero To Hero’. We wrote down all of the information we thought was important. We then went to the computer suite where we were shown how to use ‘Word’ to produce our writing. We were then taught how to change the size, type and colour of the font and how to search for, and insert a picture of our hero. We really enjoyed using these skills to make our work more interesting.
In 2 Blue this week we have been looking at what Media stars and people working in the media industry work with. We looked at some of the equipment and decided that they have a lot of buttons to remember. We then experimented with our very own podcast station and we interviwed our friend using questions that we had created. We each took a turn asking and answering the questions and obviously experimenting with the different sound buttons on the pod cast machine! At the end of the session we decided that we wanted to generate some questions to use to interview Mrs Moody. We came up with some corkers that we can’t wait to hear the answers to!
As part of our Learning Means the World theme- ‘That’s all folks!’ We have been creating our very own animation. We created our own story boards, then using play dough we created the characters from the stories we had made. After that we designed backdrops for our animation. We then used ‘stickbot’ to create our very own animations.
