This week during our theme ‘What on earth?’ we have been looking at small things. Then Reception used the story ‘Little Red Hen’ to support some of our learning. We decided to make some bread, the smell of baking bread was amazing and it tasted delicious! We certainly have some contenders for Great British Bake Off!

We have had a great time celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! Lots of red, white and blue fun finished off with a lunchtime street party!
Our new theme in Learning Means The World is ‘ What on earth?’ We have been looking at living things, old and new things and life cycles. To ‘experience’ our learning we were so lucky to introduce in Reception some eggs in an incubator. We watched the chicks hatch and grow. Red and Blue class were a fabulous team and took great care of them!
Last week we came into Nursery to find someone or something had left footprints on our floor. We looked at the clues and thought about what it could have been. It had big feet and sharp claws and it had brought leaves and branches through the nursery too. After some careful thought, we decided that it could have been a Gruffalo!
We have had lots of fun with our Gruffalo activities this week and last.
Some of the activities included;

we have been up to.
For the last couple of weeks we have been using the book ‘Leaf’ by Sandra Dieckmann as our text for our English lessons. As you can see we have produced some amazing work; researching polar bears, creating reports, writing in role. We have also created some brilliant freeze frames.
As part of our text based English, the children in year 4 have produced some well written list poems this week, describing the observations of our main character on his journey across the sea.
This week we have been learning about present perfect tense verbs in English. The children enjoyed playing ‘present perfect tense’ bingo.
