Book Day in 2 Red

17th March 2025L Phillips

Another great Book Day in Hebburn Lakes!

2 Red loved spending the week looking at fractured fairytales and created their own very imaginative versions of Cinderella.

We then ended the week with a whole range of fairytale-themed activities such as a character hunt around the school, a decorated door competition, reading in the Hansel and Gretel Hobbit Hut, performing like fairytale characters in the Magical Forest performance area, challenges of building houses of sticks and bridges of paper, and many, many more fun activities!

2 Blue and the 2025 Book Week

17th March 2025L Chisholm

For our book week this year we have chosen Cinderella as our feature book.  We wrote a fractured fairytale about Cinderella where we changed an important part of the story, she may have lost her purse instead of a glass slipper or she may have gone swimming instead of to the ball.  The children had lots of fun coming up with their own version.  We the invited our parents in to read with us which we thought was amazing.  We ended book week with a day of dressing up and all things fairytale.  We created bridges, castles and beanstalks in the hall, read stories in the witches cottage, performed our own stories in the performance area, went on scavenger hunts to find letters to make words and hunting down 46 different fairytale creature around the school.  We have had an amazing week and can’t wait to see what next years theme is!

Perfect Porridge!

14th March 2025N Sikka

Year One we have been using algorithms in LMTW to follow instructions for making porridge. This also linked well with our twisted tale ‘Goldilocks and the Three Fairies’ as part of book wee in English. Today we enjoyed making and eating porridge with various toppings. Most of the children enjoyed eating it but there were a few who weren’t quite sure about it.

Story time with our families!

13th March 2025N Sikka

1 Red welcomed their parent/carers into school today as part of ‘World Book Week’. The children and their families enjoyed listening to and telling stories to each other. It was wonderful to see all the children fully emersed in books and being able to talk to each other about the stories they read or heard. We definitely have some book worms amongst our class.

DT – Designing a card with a lever

10th March 2025s begum

In DT we designed and created a congratulations card for the winner of the class election that took place just before half-term. We designed a card that had a moving part, using levers and linkages. Once we finished creating our cards, we evaluated them. We discussed what we liked about our designs, the challenges we faced and how we would improve or change our design if we did it again.

6th March 2025K Richardson

What a fabulous week! We have played guess who with the baby photos using our time language. Had races to see how fast we can pick up items or run in a set amount of time. We made the most amazing play dough pancakes our story in Drawing Club was ‘The Little Red Hen’ we also read ‘The Little Red Hen Makes Pizza’. We decided to make our own pizzas. The children chose their toppings and then sat with their friends to eat their delicious creations ❤️
