A World of Breads!

23rd January 2025N Sikka

Today in LMTW 1 Red looked at lots of breads from around the world. After lots of discussion and research we found out where each bread originated from and talked about whether we had tasted any of the different types. We then used our five senses to explore the bread, but our favourite sense used was the sense of taste. Most of the children enjoyed the bread tasting activity and were able to use associated vocabulary to describe what each one was like.

Another great week in Reception!

17th January 2025K Richardson

A very busy week in Reception. We have continued our theme ‘Ticket to Ride’. The children have been on imaginary train journeys telling us where they would go and what they might do when they get there. Played ‘stop and go’ where they have to safely drive and manoeuvre between their friends and stop/go when the sign is flashed. Built so many different types of transportation, one of our Drawing Club words, we will show you next week in our workshop! Drawn and painted various types of transport and used our Sounds Write skills to build words and write captions. ✈️❤️⭐️

The Power Of Map Reading!

15th January 2025aclark

Today in 1 Blue, we have been learning to read maps using symbols. We learned that symbols can represent a certain feature of a place. For example, one symbol we looked at was for a campsite, the symbol that represented this was a tent and a caravan. We then went on to look at a map of Jangaland and discuss what the symbols meant before looking at the key to check if we were right!

A visit from Reverend Ian!

15th January 2025K Richardson

We had an assembly with Reverend Ian from St John’s church. Today he talked to the children about break time. He recalled a story from the New Testament regarding the day of Sabbath. He talked about how the day of Sabbath is a day of rest, time to recharge and how beneficial it is. He then discussed whether we should also do jobs, relating it to Jesus helping people on the Sabbath day. We talked about Jesus healing people and helping others. How we could also help people during our breaks? The children came up with some fabulous ideas of how we can help each other during our breaks. Suggestions such as helping people who are lonely by playing with them, if someone is hurt then make sure they are ok or get them some help, let people join in with games or agree to play a few different games so everyone gets to choose their own ideas. We then had a school prayer and sang a song.
