This week in Music, we have been learning about notation. We learned the technical names for the notation and how many beats they are. A semibreve is 4 beats, a minim is 2 beats and a crotchet is 1 beat. In groups we created a four bar rhythm with four beats in each bar using glockenspiels and then performed it to the rest of the class. After our performances, we evaluated our compositions.
The Nursery children have had great fun today making moving toys. We drew faces, curled paper, used glue and tape to attach card and craft straws. I think you will all agree that the children have done a fantastic job making our caterpillars!
At our stay-and -play, we had a great time showing our grown-ups some of the things that we enjoy doing in Nursery. It was lovely to see lots of the adults and to show them how amazing their children are!
Year 5 have thoroughly enjoyed World Book day today, based on the famous author Roald Dahl!
We are blown away by the effort and creativity of the costumes and characters that our children have chosen to be this year, from the BFG, Matilda, Miss Trunchbull, Charlie Bucket, Willy Wonka and more!
We have spent the day doing lots of wonderful book related activities, especially reading (George’s Marvelous Medicine). Year 5 even created their own revolting recipes and mixed up a special concoction that had us “fizzing” with excitement.
We have hunted down Golden Tickets, went on a trail for book covers, played a class quiz and spent our afternoon trawling through Mr Twits’ disgusting spaghetti.
We cannot wait for next year already!
We have had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day! We went on a book hunt around school then took part in lots of fun activities including making dream jars and Snozzcumber sandwiches. Everyone in 7 Blue dressed up as a character from a Roald Dahl book and looked amazing!
Year 5 have been extremely lucky to learn some new dance moves!
We took part in an Indian dance work-shop and learnt the steps to a very famous song, “Jai Ho”. We put the steps together in sequence and performed our work-shop dance as a year group.
Everyone was on board learning the moves, and having a lot of fun on the way.
Well done Year 5!
Our School Council visited Toner Avenue Primary School this week to look at their OPAL environment and talk to their OPAL ambassadors!
As part of our ‘Unity In The Community’ theme we have been looking at the work of Cesar Manrique. We looked his influence in Lanzarote, his art and his wind sculptures. We decided to make our own wind sculpture and created our very own Whirlygig! We think you’ll agree they look fantastic!
With the help and expertise of Williby Rocks, Year 2 were selected for the first session in transforming our school garden into a Well-being Garden.
The children had an opportunity to take part in a bug hunt and explore the mini-beasts in the garden at this time of year, as well as encourage more wildlife by creating bug hotels.
