Today we have been learning all about the different parts of a plant and their jobs. We looked at a Lilly and cut it up to be able to see inside and this helped us to understand how it worked.
We had a lovely morning with Reception parents earlier in the week. We showed them some of our Maths and English skills and how we use these skills through our groups sessions and through our play. I think everyone was so impressed at our growing independence!
Reverend Ian came to visit us this morning. We talked about a story from the bible about Jesus and some of his friends. They were in the boat and there was a storm. His friends were very frightened. We talked about things that make us feel frightened. The children suggested some ideas such as exams, starting a new school etc. We then talked about what we could do if we feel frightened. The children had some great ideas such as tell a teacher, grandparents, family or a trusted adult. We then sang a song with him and our friends.
WOW!!! We have had some truly amazing entries for our decorated egg competition. The effort and creativity the children have applied to their designs are fantastic. Well done to all that have taken part!
In RE year one have focusing on the Easter story and the true meaning behind Easter. We looked at Palm Sunday and sequenced the story, made posters about Maundy Thursday and the Last Supper, then we made Easter cards using a stained glass window effect with a cross to symbolise Jesus being crucified on the cross on Good Friday. The children were truly fascinated about the story and learning about new life and the resurrection, and how it linked to getting chocolate eggs from the Easter Bunny.
Year 2 took part in a decorated egg competition. Here are our entries. Can you spot a winner?
Reception have been very busy enjoying the fabulous sunny weather! They have also made some fabulous Easter craft!
This week in DT, we designed and made a pair of hairy trousers based on the saga about Ragnar Lothbrok.
This half term, we have been learning how to create excellent bridge balances in gymnastics. We have been practising how to form the perfect bridge using our bodies.
