Fun with Forces and Magnets

7 Blue have learned all about magnetic forces and the relevance of the magnetic North and South Pole. The children were able to predict whether two magnets would attract or repel each other based on which poles were facing each other then worked together to group a variety of materials based on whether they were magnetic or not. We had lots of fun making our own magnetic games to play too!  Well done 7 Blue scientists!

In our Learning Means The World theme this week we have been looking at maps and how to read them.  The children have been using keys to find what places on the map are and using directional language to describe where the places are.  They they have studied a compass and what it is used for and have been looking at the difference between human and physical made objects.

Exploring Erosion

In Science this week, we explored what erosion is. We carried out an experiment to see the effects of erosion using soil, sand and water. We also discussed how and why Marsden Rock has changed over time.

Investigating Permeability

This week in Science, we have been looking at rocks. We started off the week by looking at different types of rocks and identifying whether they were igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic. Then we looked at permeability and carried out an experiment to see which rock was the most permeable and which was the least. We found out that sedimentary rocks were the most permeable rocks.

Nursery Christmas Stay and Play

The children loved welcoming their grown ups into nursery today for some festive fun! We decorated wreath photo frames and some collage stockings. The children have prepared their own reindeer dust, ready to sprinkle on Christmas Eve to make sure Santa and his reindeer find them!

We even enjoyed a festive sing-along of some of our favourite Christmas songs! What a great time we all had!
