Reception – Happy To Be Me – using our senses!

13th October 2022K Richardson

As part of our Learning Means The World theme ‘Happy to be Me,’ we have been looking at our 5 senses and how we use each one. Today we focused on the senses: taste, smell, touch and hearing. We tried various different foods and used associated vocabulary to describe how they felt; whether we could hear noises when we were eating the foods; how they tasted and all of the different smells.

The children were amazing as everyone tried foods they had not tasted before. The sour- sweet was the best, we had some funny faces from that experience !

Mindfulness Monday

13th October 2022L Davison

To celebrate World Mental Health day on Monday, Year 4 took some “me time”. In between making our DT projects, we took some time to relax. We had a 5 minute meditation with some lovely soothing music using Tibetan singing bowls and also did some mindfulness colouring and drawing.

The Gingerbread Man

11th October 2022Hayley Tampin

We have read the story of The Gingerbread Man. The children have enjoyed retelling the story, using the play dough to make their own gingerbread men, counting buttons on different gingerbread men and lots more!

The children used jelly tots, chocolate drops and icing sugar to decorate their own gingerbread man biscuit.

We think they did a great job and hope they enjoy eating them as much as they enjoyed decorating them!

Reception keeping our hands and teeth clean!

5th October 2022K Richardson

We had a visit from the school nurses today. We talked about how it was so important to wash our hands and brush our teeth. We passed round a ball with glitter on to show how easy it is for germs to spread. We sang a song which helped to us to remember how to thoroughly wash our hands.

Next it was time to learn how to brush our teeth properly, count to 6 on every tooth and brush them twice a day. We are now experts 😀 🦷 🧼👏🏻

Year 1’s First Weeks

27th September 2022L Chisholm

The children have settled into Year 1 wonderfully!  We have already started our Learning Means The World Theme ‘ Happily Ever After’ in which we are researching fairy tales and their settings and characters.  In our Maths we have been counting forwards and backwards and saying 1 more and 1 less than a given number. We are already learning so much and can’t wait to see what else we can do.
