This afternoon Reception went for an Autumn walk in our garden. We looked for signs of Autumn, talked about the different leaves, berries and fruits we saw. We also talked about which animals hibernate as we could not find any frogs. After that we went for a run around on the grass.
We have been busy bees in Reception today. Exploring, making new friends and physical fun Friday outside in the sun!

The results of Hebburn Lakes Got Talent, it was such a tricky choice for the judges. 
What a fabulous day we have had! Ice creams in the sun, circus skills, bouncy slide and then finally fun in the sun on the Trim Trail and outdoor activities! Everyone had a great time.
Here are the finalists of Hebburn Lakes Got Talent in action! They were all absolutely fabulous and it was such a tricky choice for the judges.
Reception had a fabulous day at the beach. Sunshine, a shallow dip, ice creams and so much sandy fun and exploration! A perfect end to an amazing year!
As part of our previous theme ‘What on earth?’ and then linking into our current theme ‘Over the Rainbow’ Reception were very lucky to look after some caterpillars. We investigated the life cycle and then watched out caterpillars grow, change to the chrysalis stage and then finally our beautiful butterflies emerged! We observed them for a day or two and fed them fruit, when they were ready, we let them go free! Some of them flew off straight away, but one of them stayed as it seemed to like sitting with one of our girls!
A few months ago the School Council began to think about ways we could improve Hebburn Lakes Primary School. They asked their friends in their class to give some ideas.
Once we had collated this we sat together and decided which of the ideas could be possible and not be too costly!
Once we had our top 5 they then went back their classes and asked their friends to tell them why these ideas were so important.
We collated the information and then had a meeting with Mrs Moody and Mrs Redfurn to discuss our ideas and also the reasons why we would like these ideas introduced to school.
Mrs Moody and Mrs Redfurn were very impressed with how the School Council discussed the ideas and how passionate they were!
We have agreed to meet in 2 weeks time to hear back from Mrs Moody and Mrs Redfurn so watch this space!

This week during our theme ‘What on earth?’ we have been looking at small things. Then Reception used the story ‘Little Red Hen’ to support some of our learning. We decided to make some bread, the smell of baking bread was amazing and it tasted delicious! We certainly have some contenders for Great British Bake Off!
