On Thursday, we had a fantastic time at Chopwell Woods. We took part in activities like den building and scavenger hunts. We also looked at what we needed to survive in the forest, as well as securing a hammock for a comfy night’s sleep.

1 Red had the best afternoon taking part in our annual sports children. All the children had great fun taking part in all of the different races showing a great team spirit. It definitely helped having the glorious sunshine too!

For careers day Reception had a visit from a children’s nurse and an occupational therapist. They talked to the children about their day to day jobs and showed them what they did with children and their families. The children asked them some questions and then we chatted about who was inspired to think about a career similar to theirs when they grow up.
The Toby Henderson have a variety of events coming up in July and August. Check out the posters for more information. Some of these workshops are pre-booking only so make sure you don’t miss out!
A great week in Reception. We are using Rainbow Fish for our English jobs. There has been so much creativity and writing linked to this fabulous story! Reception showing off their talents as always ❤️
This week year 4 were lucky enough to visit Jarrow Hall, which links in with our new theme “Saxon King”.
We completed 3 exciting workshops, learning lots of different things about Anglo Saxon life and what this would have been like. We had a go at making our own wool to create fabric for clothing and had a competition on which group could spin the longest piece.
It was then time to carry out an immersive drama experience, re-enacting what crime and punishment was like during Anglo Saxon times. The children loved taking on their roles as villagers, judges and witness’… They enjoyed handing out the sentences even more!
Finally, after lunch we enjoyed a walk through the farm and Anglo Saxon replica village and were lucky enough to enjoy the story of “Beowulf” by a roaring fire inside a great Saxon hall. We even had time to enjoy the sunshine in the park on site!
We were very impressed with the behaviour and maturity of our year 4 children and the amazing questions they asked throughout the day.
