In Year 1, we have been looking at instructions and how we use them. Today, we decided to make a witch’s brew using lots of different ingredients. We used our imagination when making the brew and changed the name of the ingredients to fit the theme of Halloween. We used sequencing vocabulary to orally tell our friends how to make the brew before finally drinking it. We loved being witches in this lesson!
See the timetable below for the activities ran by the Family Hubs over the October half-term. There are lots of lovely Halloween related events however most are bookable so don’t leave it too late incase they fill up!
Please welcome our new School Councilors and OPAL Ambassadors for 2025/2026!

Our very first task is to create the decorations for our Halloween disco, how exciting!
I would also like to say a big thank you to last years school council team for all their hard work and determination. You were all amazing.

This morning we had a visit from Reverend Ian at St John’s church. He talked about how God created people in his image. He talked about how people are special and how you see their images on coins etc. He then talked about how everyone is special, how we have to treat everyone with kindness and look after everyone.
In Year 1, we have been making bags for a fairy. We designed our bag yesterday and then today we made them. We had lots of rules that we had to follow so that the bag was right for the fairies, for example it needed to be small so they can carry it and it also cannot harm any nature so flowers were off limits! We took great pride in our creations and we were so proud of how our bags turned out and we hope the fairies love them just as much as we do!
In LMTW as part of Design and Technology we have been designing and making bags for a fairy. We looked at various styles of bags that we use to carry things but then we decided a fairy needed a small lightweight bag to carry as fairies are small and delicate. The children enjoyed designing, making and decorating their bags!
